Just thought I’d share a video on setting up the trial of GoToMeeting. If you are looking for a quick and easy online meeting solution, give Citrix’s software a try. It’s free, as are some of it’s alternatives, and the easiest to install.

According to a report by analyst firm Frost & Sullivan, Citrix Online (a division of Citrix Systems) has become the number two in the worldwide market for Web conferencing when measured on revenue market share. The momentum of the company is significantly influenced by the products Citrix GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar and GoToTraining that are particularly inexpensive and simple to use in a traditionally enterprise only domain. In addition, Citrix Online’s fastest-growing supplier of all leading web conferencing software-as-a-Service (SaaS) companies in 2009.
“Citrix Online reported in recent years, rapid growth,” said Roopam Jain, principal analyst at Frost & Sullivan North America Information & Communications Technologies Practice. “We believe that the company for further growth and market penetration, particularly in the midmarket, is well positioned. New services such as GoToTraining for organizations who want a specific product training, and flexible audio features such as the integration of toll-free telephone numbers and VoIP continue to strengthen the value proposition of the company in the market. “
Frost & Sullivan forecasts that the worldwide Web conferencing SaaS market will grow by 2014 to 4.12 billion U.S. dollars with an annual growth rate of 19 percent over five years. In the year 2009 reached the worldwide web conferencing SaaS market 1.09 billion U.S. dollars. Growth drivers are especially becoming increasingly virtual workplace that requires communication over various countries and regions, cost savings and improved productivity associated with on-line meetings as well as environmental concerns and the general acceptance of cloud computing. With increasing market maturity are simple implementation and the use of appropriate solutions without a learning curve or experience to go through ever more important.
“We are pleased that we are the only major supplier, has grown its market share in 2009,” says Brett Caine, general manager of Citrix Online. “This confirms our leading role in the Web conferencing market is also simultaneously an affirmation of our vision, the right features with ease of use and attractive pricing combined. We will continue to dominate this field by developing innovative new products and opportunities that help our customers to be successful.
GoToMeeting is a simple, inexpensive and fast solution for online meetings. Anyone who has a Mac or PC and Internet access can set up these meetings and participate within seconds. iPad Gotomeeting

July 3, 2010

Just read an interesting blog post that GoToMeeting is now available on the Android too, let me know if you’ve got any experiences of it yourself. Looks like this could be the trend for future web conferencing…

If you want to run a successful buisiness in these climates you’ve got to cut costs, cut costs and cut costs. I asked our accountant to have a look at where the thought we were spending more than we ought to, and he came back with travel as being a massive drain on our resources. With a staff of just 40 we were spending almost 6 figures a year on travel. We are a client facing buisiness, buying contracts from across the globe, as well as meeting clients nationwide. So when Web conferencing was reccomended to me, I thought Id have a look to see if it would be appropriate to replace some of our more expensive and time consuming meetings. Is was considering webex, but in the end I went for a webex alternative called gotomeeting.
So I had a look at the software available online for meetings, and found GoToMeeting to be a good compromise between cost, features and ease of use. With a free 30 day trial, it seemed like a good idea to at least try it out. I was very impressed with the easy install, and would recommend it to even the most tech savvy. Hopefully WebEx will also start supplying a free trial, or some kind of alternative arrangement. You can get some feedback on what users are thinking on this gotomeeting review on the online meeting forum.

GoToMeeting is a strong online meeting contender. It has a low cost compared to some of the older products, and is probably requries the least technical ability out of all the options. WebEx have a number of different packages available, and has very mature products DimDim and Zoho both produce open source offerings that are a great choice for any Linux users. Yugma is the new guy on the field, and is perhaps the least polished. Microsoft Live Meeting lacks features but not surprisingly integrates well with other office products. Adobe connect.. well Im not a fan. Web Huddle however is one of the better options for those looking for a basic, free meeting solution.
